I am a Creative Director and Copywriter with over 15 years experience working on iconic global brands like Nike, PlayStation, IKEA and Airbnb. I look to discover what is true and human about the brands I work with and aim to create impactful work that pushes boundaries and connects them more deeply with their audience. I have worked to promote brands on the global level and across different geographies. The campaigns I have created have been recognized with awards both globally and locally.
My advertising career started in the halls of Wieden+Kennedy in Portland, where I was selected as one of 12 from hundreds of applicants for a year long program called Wieden+Kennedy 12. W+K 12 was started by Dan Wieden and Jelly Helm and has been called “an experiment disguised as a school disguised as an agency.” For twelve months we worked under the creative direction of Susan Hoffman and account direction of Byron Oshiro, to create campaigns for real clients like Farm Aid and GOOD Magazine. It was trial by fire, supported and guided by legends of the business. Over the course of the year, I was lucky to have inspiring and meaningful interactions with both Dan Wieden and David Kennedy, for which I am forever grateful.
After 12, I was hired to work on Nike Basketball and soon found myself moving to the other side of the world to help re-establish the Nike brand in Asia, from the Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo office. I was fortunate to sell my first project for Nike Football and was soon leading a month-long production in London, working with legendary director Frank Budgen, and shooting countless footballers from Arsenal and Manchester United, including an up and coming Cristiano Ronaldo. When I wrapped the project, W+K Tokyo founder, John C Jay commented with a laugh “We threw you into the deep end. Welcome to the team.”
It was the start of a fruitful period that would last nearly 14 years.
At W+K Tokyo I worked alongside incredibly talented and inspiring folks. I was a core creative on Nike and was able to create award winning work for the brand in Japan, Asia and globally. I was lucky to work with iconic athletes like Ronaldo, Hideo Nomo, Yu Darvish and Naomi Osaka. I also helped lead creative on multiple pitches including key wins on PlayStation, Ben & Jerry’s and Airbnb. I worked on a variety of brands including IKEA, Delta Airlines, Netflix, Spotify, Google and Travel Portland which led to a very weird campaign that spawned a cult-like devotion and a Wikipedia entry.
I left Wieden for a new challenge in a new industry, diving into sports and web3 for the startup that invented NFTs, Dapper Labs. It was a fascinating look at what the future will look like for technology, sports and culture. While at Dapper, I was able to make campaigns for Magic Johnson, Patrick Mahomes and Klay Thompson.
Outside of my agency work I have kept busy writing short films, streaming series and features. I created two award-winning short films with director Mackenzie Sheppard, Man in Phone (Academy Award Qualifier) and Donny the Drone starring Guy Pearce. I currently have several projects in various stages of development. Today, my work has evolved into the frontier of generative AI. In 2025, I transitioned into major commercial work as an AI Film Director, writing and directing an ESPN-broadcasted commercial for Proofpoint, along with two spots that became Luma Dream Brief Finalists and official entries for the 2026 Cannes Lions. I am continuing to push the medium forward with several original AI-generated series currently in development, including the satirical Agenency and the sports comedy Deadball Academy. As an early pioneer in the medium, I also advise several generative AI platforms to help shape the features that will define the future of filmmaking, to ensure that artistry and craft stay at the forefront of these emerging tools.
I am currently living in Arizona with my wife, two daughters and a mighty Chihuahua/Toy Poodle mix named Miles. I’m originally from Oregon, where I was an all-state baseball pitcher and 1st baseman in high school. I had a major league tryout as a pitcher before making the left turn into a career in advertising. Growing up, my mom was a creative writing teacher and my dad owned a guitar and drum shop in Portland. Creativity was an important part of our home.
📧 I write a newsletter where I talk about the creative process and share creative inspiration you can check out here.
