A founding partner of the esteemed boutique production company Arts & Sciences, Matt Aselton is one of the most accomplished commercial directors in the industry. He began his directing career joining Epoch Films in 2003. In 2011, Matt founded and launched the production company Arts & Sciences with partners Marc Marrie and Mal Ward.
His expansive body of work includes collaborations with brands including Google, Apple, Playstation, Netflix, Hulu, Audi, M&Ms, Delta Airlines, Fox Sports, Duracell, Samsung, and Verizon, often collaborating with celebrities and professional athletes. His film “Jeter” for Brand Jordan was honored with a Cannes Lions Grand Prix in 2015, a Clio, a Best Direction AICP award, and an Integrated Campaign award at the 2015 AICP NEXT Show at MOMA.
As a filmmaker, Matt co-wrote and directed his first feature film, “GIGANTIC,” in 2008. The film, starring Paul Dano, Zooey Deschanel, John Goodman, and Ed Asner, debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. Arts & Sciences joined Matt in producing his following feature film, “Lying and Stealing.” Matt is also a producer of the indie feature “His Three Daughters,” starring Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyone, and directed by Arts & Sciences director Azazel Jacobs. Produced under the Arts & Sciences banner, the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023 and sold to Netflix for worldwide distribution.
Along with co-founders Marc Marrie and Mal Ward, Matt has helped lead Arts & Sciences to renown and recognition with award-winning work for the world’s most recognizable brands. Representing a diverse group of top directors and creators, Arts & Sciences’ body of work also includes music videos, fine art projects, original documentaries, and feature films, with original content featured at the New Frontiers showcase at the Sundance Film Festival. They have won every major advertising award, including Cannes Lions, The Clios, AICP Awards, D&ADs, The One Show, and The Andys, and have been named an AdAge Creativity A-List Production Company of The Year six times.
